Welcome

Hello all,

As you know the shore is a huge part of my life. I was born and raised in Strathmere, a VERY small seaside town. My family, still lives in that area and I spend much of my free time there. I have been saddened to see what happened as a result of Hurricane Sandy and wanted to do something to help the victims. If the storm had hit just a little more south, all of our favorite Cape May County beaches could have seen the same destruction as Long Beach Island and north saw. Although I can do some small things, I thought it was best to put my time and energy into something on a larger scale.

I am putting together a fundraiser (Silent and Chinese Auction) to be held on December 9th. All proceeds will benefit victims in areas hardest hit. Please save the date and join us for this fun afternoon! Please check this blog and Facebook as I will be updating them as we get new details.

Thanks for all of your support!
Lauren

P.S. People are asking where the name comes from. Shoobies are the tourists (mostly from Pa.) who visit the shore, but don't live there. On Long Beach Island, the tourists are called Bennies. Although in the summer "shoobies" sometimes disrupt the laid back pace of the shore towns, now, more than ever, our summer neighbors need help and support and I know residents will be happy for a little support, even though it's the "off-season".
